ZIM vs IND: The fastest T20I century was scored in how many balls in Zimbabwe? Vaibhav Suryavanshi has a chance to break the record

July 21, 2026 by Uma Shankar

IND vs ZIM T20I, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: The T20 series against Zimbabwe is starting from 23 July. For this, Team India has reached Harare, where all the matches of the T20 series are to be played. In this T20 series too, all eyes will be on Vaibhav Suryavanshi, where he would like to forget his mediocre performance in England and write a strong script of success. What could be better for Vaibhav Suryavanshi than starting his Zimbabwe tour by breaking the record of the fastest T20 century made there. On July 23, when Vaibhav will play the first T20 of the series, 300 days will be completed after he scored the fastest T20 century in Zimbabwe. India’s 15-year-old star batsman will have a big chance to break the record of the fastest T20 century made in Zimbabwe on his 300th day.

Who scored the fastest T20I century in Zimbabwe?

Now the question is, which player holds the record for scoring the fastest T20 century in Zimbabwe? This record is in the name of Namibian player JJ Smit, who completed his century in 37 balls in the match played against Kenya on 26 September 2025. He had scored unbeaten 111 runs on 39 balls, which included 7 sixes and 12 fours.

In the match played in Harare, Namibia had scored 241 runs in the first game on the basis of JJ Smit’s stormy century. In reply, Kenya’s team could score only 105 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs and lost the match by 136 runs.

Abhishek Sharma’s record of fastest T20I century was broken

When JJ Smit scored a T20 century in 37 balls in Harare, he broke Abhishek Sharma’s record of the fastest century scored on Zimbabwean soil. Abhishek Sharma had scored a T20 century in 46 balls in the match played in Harare during the 2024 Zimbabwe tour.

300th day… Vaibhav Suryavanshi has a big opportunity

Now Vaibhav Suryavanshi has a chance to break the record of the fastest T20 century made in Zimbabwe. He has scored a century in 35 balls in IPL. In such a situation, breaking the record of 37-ball T20 century made in Zimbabwe does not seem like a big deal for him. But, if that century of Vaibhav comes in the very first match of the T20 series, then it will be icing on the cake. By doing this, Vaibhav Suryavanshi will not only be seen making the record of the fastest T20 century in Zimbabwe, apart from that, he will be seen breaking that record on the 300th day since its creation.
