Want to thank Dharmendra Pradhan… Know why Abhijeet Deepke’s father said this

July 25, 2026 by Uma Shankar

On Dharmendra Pradhan resigning from the post of Union Education Minister after the NEET paper leak controversy, Bhagwan Shankar Deepke, father of Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijit Deepke, said, “This is a very good thing for the students. The government has listened to their demands. I would also like to thank Dharmendra Pradhan that he showed generosity and big heart by resigning.”

According to ANI report Abhijeet Deepke The parents cried with joy after Pradhan’s resignation. For the first time after June 6, Abhijeet Deepke’s father Bhagwan Shankar Deepke and his mother Anita Deepke felt relieved. Anita said, this is very good. For two and a half months, students were fighting for the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. This is victory.

Abhijeet Deepke’s parents live in Sambhajinagar.

Bhagwan Shankar and Anita, who live in Aurangabad, now called Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, are the parents of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Deepke, who led one of India’s biggest student protests. Anita said, Abhijeet has fought the battle with patience. He was slapped and abused. He has achieved so much at such a young age.

On Saturday morning, Lord Shankar, who retired as a civil engineer in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), went to a temple in nearby Pandharpur village and prayed for the country.

Anita spoke to her son on video call on Friday. Abhijeet told her, Mummy, it went a little viral. She says that initially, she did not like what Abhijeet was doing. She says, then, I saw that he was fighting for the students. His father says, Abhijeet will never go into politics.

No one from his family is in politics

Lord Shankar says that no one in his family has been in politics. Even the Sarpanch has not been made. He further says that as the protests were increasing, Abhijeet asked him not to come to Delhi. He said, we were hearing about protests all around us. I never thought that Abhijeet’s name would spread so much. For that, my biggest dream was civil services. I used to tell him that if he cracks the UPSC exam, his career will be secure.

Abhijeet had come home a month ago after attending a CJP event in Nagpur. A police team is deployed outside his house. Anita says, they tell us not to go to protests, so we are just sitting at home.

Lord Shankar says, I have to stop his cricket. There are so many cricketers in our country, so what will be the future of a middle-class boy?

Didn’t like engineering, studied journalism

Abhijeet completed his schooling from Saraswati Bhuvan College, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and then took admission in Sinhagad Institute, Pune for an engineering degree. This was a big leap for the family.

But Abhijeet’s heart was in engineering. Bhagwan Shankar says, he wanted to study journalism. Being a civil engineer, I was aware of medical and engineering courses and colleges, but journalism was a completely unknown field. Abhijeet took admission in Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth in Pune to study Journalism and graduated in 2021, and also worked for the social media platform of Aam Aadmi Party.

Bhagwan Shankar says, when he told me that he wanted to pursue further studies in Public Relations, I was near retirement. I took an education loan and Abhijeet went to Boston University’s College of Communication to do post-graduation in Public Relations.
