In the video, Nandini Sethi, who studied from IIM, tells that after shifting to Mumbai, her total expenses for one month reached more than Rs 1.31 lakh. He wrote in the caption along with the video that Rs 1,31,277 was spent in a month. How much do you spend per month? He also clarified that this amount does not include investment. He also humorously asked why people love this expensive city so much.
How much does it cost in Mumbai?
Nandini tells that she has recently bought a new house. The rent of his 1BHK flat is Rs 31,000 per month. However, the flat was completely vacant, so he had to buy the furniture he needed, on which around Rs 25,000 was spent. After shifting to the new house, he also got deep cleaning of the room and bathroom done, for which he had to pay Rs 1,514.
After this, many more expenses were incurred to make the house livable. To get relief from the heat, he got a new AC installed, on which Rs 10,400 was spent. Also took some furniture on rent for drawing room and kitchen, which cost Rs 980. During this time, there was a malfunction in the geyser, which cost Rs 4,328 to get repaired. That means, living at home started with many additional expenses.
If we talk about daily expenses, Nandini spends around Rs 5,800 every month on groceries. She pays Rs 400 to the cook and Rs 1,200 to the domestic help for cooking. A good amount of money is also spent in traveling to and from office. According to him, approximately Rs 11,250 per month is spent only on travelling. Apart from work, the expenses on lifestyle are also not less. Nandini says that on weekends, around Rs 10,545 is spent on going out with friends, eating, drinking and other activities. Apart from this, the cost of going home to meet family is around Rs 15,350 including flight ticket and taxi. Around Rs 10,000 is spent on shopping and other small and big personal expenses.
When he added up the accounts for the entire month, the total expenditure reached Rs 1,31,277. At the end of the video he said that he still cannot believe that such a huge amount was spent in just one month. He said that living in Mumbai is as exciting as it is expensive.
