He had won the gold medal in the last Asian Games held in China under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad. 9 members of that gold medal winning team have been kept in the list of 30 probables for this time’s Asian Games. Apart from that, players like Pant, Iyer and Yashasvi have also got place.

Who will be the T20 captain in place of Suryakumar Yadav?
The absence of Suryakumar Yadav in the list of these 30 players means that the reins of the team will be in the hands of someone else in the Asian Games 2026. There are many contenders to replace Suryakumar Yadav as T20 captain, including names like Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad. But, the final decision regarding who to hand over the captaincy will be taken by the selectors and BCCI.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi will join Team India even before the Asian Games!

Before the Asian Games 2026, India has to play 2 T20s in Ireland from June 26, 5 T20s and 3 ODIs in England in July, 3 T20s in Zimbabwe from July 23 and then 2 T20s in Sri Lanka in August. It is expected that Vaibhav Suryavanshi will be seen playing for Team India on these tours also.
