US President Donald Trump has claimed that America has ended the ongoing war with Iran and Iran has agreed to never make nuclear weapons in the future. However, Iran has not yet confirmed any such agreement or promise. During an online rally in support of Georgia Lieutenant Governor Bert Jones, Trump said, ‘I don’t know if you heard or not, but today we have ended the war with Iran. He has agreed not to possess nuclear weapons. This was our main goal and 95% of our focus was on this.
A few hours before this, Trump had also said that America and Iran are very close to signing a peace agreement. He also said that he has canceled the new air and missile attacks on Iran, which were warned earlier. On the other hand, Iran’s Tasnim news agency said that in the last two months, Trump has claimed 38 times to be very close to an agreement. The agency warned that unless Iran itself announces any deal, Trump’s statements should not be considered the final truth.
Trump said to stop military action
Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social that talks have reached Iran’s top leadership and have been approved. For this reason, he decided to stop the military action planned by America. Trump says that a draft of a strong agreement has been prepared between the two countries, which can stop the fighting.
He also claimed that this agreement has also received the support of other countries and parties in the region. These include Israel, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Pakistan. However, Israel has expressed doubts about any agreement with Iran several times in the past.
American blockade will continue in Hormuz
Trump said that the US naval blockade on ships entering and leaving Iranian ports will continue. This will remain in force until the agreement is completely finalized. He told that the agreement can be signed in Europe this weekend. Trump said that he himself might not be able to attend, but Vice President JD Vance would be present. He also said that the Strait of Hormuz will be officially reopened as soon as the agreement is reached.
A diplomat with knowledge of the talks between the two countries also said that most of the points of the agreement had been agreed upon several weeks ago, but there is still about a 50% chance of it breaking. According to him, there are many reasons which can thwart the agreement at the last moment. Therefore, despite Trump’s big claims, no final agreement has been reached between America and Iran.
