A governor in Turkey has been removed for wearing sports tights while riding a bicycle. In fact, leaders of the ruling party had started raising objections regarding the cycling pictures and attire of Ardahan Province Governor Mehmet Fatih Cisekali. After this the Turkish government removed him from his post. However, no official reason has been given by the government.
During the debate in Parliament last week, ruling party MP Inan Akgun Alp, citing the report of Turkish news website T-24, said that it is against the dignity of the state to have Erdahan Province Governor Mehmet Fatih Cisekali walking around the city wearing tight clothes. Security personnel walk in front of the Governor and in such a situation it is not appropriate for him to roam around in public wearing such strict clothes.
The ruling party said – special care should be taken of conduct and decorum
Samil Tayyar, a former MP of AKP, the ruling party of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, also raised questions on this dress and said that a person can wear the clothes of his choice in his personal life. But while on duty, a governor should not go among the people wearing such tight clothes. This is against the cultural values of provinces like Ardahan. People holding public positions should take special care of their conduct and decorum.
Sisekali gave this argument in his defense
Amidst all this, the statement of Governor Mehmet Fatih Cisekali has also come. He was not wearing any unusual clothes. He wore normal sportswear for cycling. He also said that he would continue cycling. He is an athlete who practices swimming, rowing and cycling. The clothes he wore were normal clothes made for sports.
People came forward openly in support of the Governor
A large number of people also came out in support of the Governor. According to pro-opposition channel Hulk TV, more than 10,000 people signed an online campaign demanding his retention.
Supporters said – give importance to Sisekali’s work and not to his attire.
Supporters say that Mehmet Fatih Cisekeli has done a great job in promoting sports culture, youth activities and bicycle tourism in Ardahan. Attention should be given not to their attire but to their work.

While bidding farewell to Ardahan on Wednesday i.e. 22nd July, Mehmet Fatih Cisekali also looked emotional. Addressing his supporters, he said that he was confident that he had not broken the trust of those who always supported him.
