The students’ protest against the paper leak in Delhi reached the biggest temple of democracy and the situation became such that the doors of Parliament had to be closed and security personnel were alerted. Where on normal days even a bird cannot kill, today there was the sound of students’ footsteps, the echo of their voices and the heat of their anger. This march of students that started from Jantar Mantar was not just a march, but a question of lakhs of youth who are asking who is responsible for the NEET paper leak?
Issued at Jantar Mantar in Delhi since last one month. Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)’s protest broke the silence on Monday and he moved towards the Parliament, which has been given the responsibility of running the country.
In the demonstration in which the protesters could be counted on fingers till a few days ago, there was such a crowd of students in that demonstration that in the pictures taken from the drone, all the roads leading to the Parliament were filled. For the first time after the Anna movement of 2011, there was such a crowd on the roads leading to Parliament in Delhi.
Police lathicharge on protesters
Delhi Police made every possible effort to stop the students. Barricades were put up at some places, tear gas shells were fired at some places, lathicharge was done where necessary, but the students were in no mood to stop and neither did they stop. He gradually came closer to the Parliament.
When this demonstration of students was going on, the proceedings of Parliament were also going on. Although there was less proceedings and more commotion in the Parliament, the security personnel of the Parliament suddenly became alert to prevent the protesters from entering the Parliament. There was chaos in the entire Parliament complex and then the doors of the Parliament were closed. During this the QRT team pointed its guns.
Due to this many times the Parliament march turned violent. A sub-inspector of Delhi Police has been injured during a clash with protesters near Parliament Street. Police fired tear gas shells to stop the protesters.
CJP representatives met Nadda
On one side, the students’ Parliament march was going on, on the other side, Abhijeet Deepke’s fast was broken. CJP claims that Abhijeet Deepke has been taken into custody. However, the police have denied this. Abhijeet Deepke ended his fast, but Sonam Wangchuk’s fast still continues.
Meanwhile, a CJP team led by Saurav Das started talks with the government. Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka met Union Minister JP Nadda. In this 10-minute meeting, CJP handed over his list of demands to him.
This morning, for the first time, a proposal came from the protesters to hold talks with the government and our talks have been going on since 11:50 AM.
The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere. There was a detailed verbal discussion with his delegation and a written petition was given to me by him at around 4 pm.

After the meeting, CJP said that the supporters should maintain peace. The government has listened to our views very well. After this, a social media post also came from the government side, in which it was said that talks started between the government and the protesters at 11.50 am. At around 4 pm the delegation submitted a written petition to the government. The protesters should end the protest and help in normalizing the situation, whereas CJP made it clear that at present they have three demands –
- First, Sonam Wangchuk should be released immediately.
- Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should resign.
- A compensation of Rs 1 crore should be given to the families of NEET candidates who have committed suicide.
However, amid claims of appealing for peace, the protesters turned violent several times today. Some time ago, protesters broke the glass panes of vehicles at Janpath near Connaught Place. Throw stones at the police.
CJP got support from political parties
Home Minister Amit Shah and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met today amidst the uproar among students. This meeting between the two leaders lasted for about 4 hours. However, nothing came out on what was discussed in this meeting.
This demonstration of CJP got the support of many political parties. Aam Aadmi Party leaders Manish Sisodia and Atishi participated in this march. Samajwadi Party leader Dimple Yadav and RJD’s Manoj Jha also participated in it. Mamta Banerjee supported him through social media posts.
After the day-long uproar, the police removed the protesting students from the Parliament complex. It is also being claimed that the police is evacuating Jantar Mantar.
Ruckus from road to Parliament
On one side there was uproar on the road, on the other side there was uproar in Parliament also. On the first day of the monsoon session, the opposition created a ruckus on the issue of NEET paper leak and theft of Ram temple offerings. Some MPs reached inside the House carrying posters and banners. The opposition demands that the government should discuss the issue of NEET paper leak and offering theft in Parliament.
When Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi criticized the lathicharge on students, the Samajwadi Party President said that this is not the government, it is ego. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi has described PM Modi as the youngest opposition Prime Minister till date.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge alleged that the government is suppressing the voices of the children gathered at Jantar Mantar. Amidst this uproar, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal introduced a bill in the Lok Sabha to increase the number of judges in the Supreme Court, but later it did not move forward. The proceedings could not proceed due to the uproar in Parliament. Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha had to be adjourned six times and finally Parliament was adjourned till tomorrow.
Before the uproar in Parliament and street demonstrations, PM Modi spoke to the media just before the start of the monsoon session and expressed hope that both the monsoon and the monsoon session will be pro-active, which will benefit the country. In this conversation, PM Modi called Rahul Gandhi a 56 year old youth without taking his name. Mallikarjun Kharge took a dig at this and asked where did the 56 inch chest go?
Wangchuk announced to continue the fast
Meanwhile, Sonam Wangchuk wrote a letter from the hospital. Wangchuk announced to continue the fast. He said that I will continue the fast until the youth leaders are not allowed to meet the MPs in the Parliament House, or I am not allowed to meet the MPs here in the hospital itself. Youths who are protesting peacefully are being brutalized. We hope that the government will fix the accountability of the Education Minister.
However, the students’ protest was not limited to Delhi only, rather small demonstrations were held at many places in the country including Mumbai. The biggest demonstration in support of CJP outside Delhi took place in Mumbai. Students demonstrated against the government at Azad Maidan in Mumbai.
Demonstrations in many cities of the country
Amidst the students’ demonstration, another demonstration took place at Jantar Mantar, this demonstration was about the demand for full statehood for Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah reached Jantar Mantar with his supporters today.
He alleged that he was protesting for his demands, but he was prevented from going to Jantar Mantar and protesting peacefully for his legitimate rights, although he claimed that even by doing this, his voice could not be suppressed. Omar Abdullah’s father and former Jammu and Kashmir CM Farooq Abdullah also participated in this demonstration.
CJP supporters again captured Jantar Mantar
Supporters of the Cockroach Janata Party, led by Abhijit Deepke, again occupied the site of the protest at Jantar Mantar on Monday night. Delhi Police had removed it a few hours ago. The police had removed the stage where activist Sonam Wangchuk had conducted her hunger strike. Trampolines, carpets, mattresses and other things were kept there.
