
PV Sindhu created history: India’s star shuttler PV Sindhu has won the Japan Open title. She is the first Indian shuttler to win this badminton tournament. In the women’s singles final, she defeated her familiar rival Akane Yamaguchi of Japan 21-17, 21-17 in consecutive games. This was the 30th meeting of these two players on the badminton court, in which PV Sindhu now has the upper hand by 16-14.
What does winning Japan Open mean for PV Sindhu?
This is PV Sindhu’s first BWF750 title. This is his first title on the badminton court after winning the Syed Modi Tournament in 2024. This has happened after 4 years when he has won a badminton tournament somewhere outside India. He won the Japan Open title by winning the final played in Tokyo.
