After Pradhan’s resignation, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh wrote on social site X that Pradhan was finally forced to resign. It was the constant pressure from the youth that finally forced the Prime Minister to stop giving them political cover. In his press conference after the exam was cancelled, Minister Pradhan deliberately avoided using the word leak. The Education Ministry had officially denied before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education in May 2020 that the paper was leaked.

He said that even in his resignation letter, Minister Pradhan has refused to use the word ‘paper leak’, but has been referring to ‘irregularities’. When the minister refuses to even admit what went wrong in the first place, there is no hope of a fair investigation or accountability.
