There has been a controversy in the country for a long time regarding offering Namaz on the streets. Recently, on the occasion of Bakrid, UP CM Yogi Adityanath had clearly said that Namaz will not be offered on the streets. Meanwhile, the statement of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi has come to light. He says that if offering Namaz on public roads is unacceptable, then this rule should be for events related to other religions.
The President of AIMIM said that rules and laws have been made for Namaz on the streets, they should be equally applicable to events and religious programs of all religions. He said that there should not be different standards for one community and different standards for another, one standard should be adopted for all.
Accusation of marginalizing Muslims
Speaking to reporters at the AIMIM headquarters in Hyderabad on Friday (May 29), Owaisi alleged that efforts are being made to marginalize Muslims in the country and make them second class citizens. He clearly said that if offering Namaz on the streets is wrong then organizing festivals of every religion on the streets is wrong. This should apply to all religions also. He said that similar rules should apply to festivals and religious activities also.
‘Rules should apply to all religions’
Owaisi said that if offering namaz on the road is considered wrong, then the same rules should be applied to all religious processions, festivals and other public programs held on the roads. He said that it is wrong to target any particular community regarding the use of public places.
‘India also belongs to Muslims’
Along with this, he also said that if there is a demand for closure of meat shops on any festival, then all liquor shops should be closed for the entire 30 days in the month of Ramadan. He said that all communities should be treated equally in religious matters. He asked how much time does it take for Namaz on the roads? He said that India also belongs to Muslims and he will continue to fight for their issues democratically.
Questions raised on rising fuel prices
Along with this, the AIMIM Chief also raised questions on the Central Government and oil companies regarding the rising prices of fuel. He said that the prices are being affected due to various reasons like blockage in the Strait of Hormuz, but Indian companies have made profits while importing cheap oil from Russia. He said that questions should be asked to the Central Government regarding this also. He said that transparency is necessary to reduce the burden of increasing fuel expenses on the general public.
