Munawar Faruqui: Stand-up comedian and actor Munawar Farooqui has expressed his displeasure on social media, questioning the silence of celebrities amid NEET performance. He said that when students were protesting on the streets for the last 25 days and paying the price for raising their voice, most of the big stars remained silent. Munawwar believes that one should speak on any issue when it is most needed and not when the environment becomes safe.
Munawwar wrote in his post that after the Prime Minister’s statement and the change in public attitude, many celebrities suddenly started expressing their opinions, which is disappointing. He said that if influential people had supported the students earlier, perhaps the situation would not have deteriorated so much.
Munawwar raised questions on the silence of celebs
Munawwar wrote in his post, “It is disappointing that most of the celebrities found their voice only when the Prime Minister spoke on this issue and the public’s attitude changed. If a stand has to be taken on an issue, it should be taken without fear, not when it becomes safe to speak. Support given under pressure or seeing public opinion is not bravery, but convenience.” He further said that if influential people had spoken on this issue earlier, perhaps the situation would not have worsened so much.

Let us tell you that in the ongoing protest led by CJP, students and job candidates are demanding accountability for alleged irregularities in the education system, especially in the NEET paper leak case. The protesters are also demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and major reforms in the examination system. In support of this movement, social activist Sonam Wangchuk was also sitting on hunger strike at Jantar Mantar. He ended his 26-day hunger strike at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram in the presence of Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh.
