Released on 26 July 2021, this film achieved tremendous popularity even without coming to the theatre. The budget of 'Mimi', made under the direction of Laxman Uterkar, was around Rs 25 crore. Pankaj Tripathi was seen in an important role with Kriti Sanon in the film. People liked its story and Kriti Sanon's acting very much, due to which 'Mimi' got 7.8 rating on IMDb. The music of Kriti Sanon's Mimi was given by AR Rahman. This film was not released in theatres. It was released directly on Netflix and JioCinema. Therefore, the film did not register any box office collection and it could not earn even a single rupee from the theatre. The film was initially scheduled to be released on July 30, 2021, but after being leaked online, the makers released it on OTT 4 days before the scheduled date i.e. on July 26, 2021. Despite being released on OTT, it caught everyone's attention. 'Mimi' got a great response from the audience and critics. Kriti Sanon's acting was praised the most in this film based on the sensitive issue of surrogacy. Not only this, Kriti Sanon received the Best Actress Award at the 69th National Film Awards for this film.
