
IT Secretary S Krishnan has informed today on July 13 that Meta has responded to the government notice to Meity in the Child Obscene Advertisement Case (CSAM) on Instagram. After receiving the reply from Meta, now investigation is being done, he also said that after the investigation, appropriate action will be taken. Recall that the government had recently issued a government notice to Meta on Child Obscene Advertisements (CSEAM) in paid ads on Instagram.
S Krishnan said on Monday that Meta’s reply to the government notice has been received. On CSAM content, we had issued a notice to Meta and have received a reply, the investigation is currently underway.
The IT Ministry received the reply on Saturday, which was the last date for reply. S Krishnan said, after examining the reply, appropriate action will be taken in this matter.
MeitY had given this order to Instagram
MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) instagram It was ordered to stop all ads and content promoting and providing access to CSEAM and sought a detailed reply with a deadline.

Within days of the notice, Meta detailed its efforts to address child-sarcastic advertising and related content (CSAM) on its apps, focusing on AI-powered detection and large-scale enforcement actions. In a blogpost, it promised to continue investing in technology and resources to keep youth safe and strengthen its ad review process.

Some time ago, a BBC report made a shocking revelation that some paid advertisements were being seen on Instagram in which words like child video were used. There was also a link with the advertisement which was leading to Telegram where obscene content related to children was being openly sold for Rs 99.
