There will be a fast unto death from today regarding the Maratha movement. Today is the first day of the fast unto death of the leader of this movement, Manoj Jarange Patil. Manoj Jarange Patil will sit on fast today at 10 am in the scorching heat of Antarwali Sarati. On Thursday, the government delegation led by Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil and MLA Prasad Lad had met Jarange Patil. However, even after the meeting, Jarange Patil remained firm on his decision to fast.
According to sources, today some demands of Manoj Jarange Patil are likely to be accepted in written form. For this, a draft can be handed over to them from the government. It is also discussed that Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil may once again meet Manoj Jarange Patil today and try to convince him to end his fast. At present, the eyes of the state are fixed on Antarwali Sarati regarding the Maratha reservation movement.
Why is there protest?
Announcing that he would go on a hunger strike, Jarange said that if his health deteriorates during the protest in the scorching heat, then the Maharashtra government will be responsible for it. This protest is regarding the irregularities in the reservation certificate. Protests are being held over deficiencies in reissued certificates and delay in issuing pending certificates. Also, giving extension of one more year to Sandeep Shinde Committee to find out Kunbi records is also a reason for protest.
What did Vikhe Patil say?
Throwing light on the problems being faced in implementing reservation, Maharashtra government minister Vikhe Patil said that a deadline has been fixed for giving reservation and regular updates are also being taken on this. Although some legal conditions like verification of certificates are taking time, it does not mean that the government is not working.
