Is your old money lying in banks or insurance companies? Government launches new portal, complete information will be available in one click

May 30, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Many times it happens that people forget to deposit money in a bank or the money from an old insurance policy, share or mutual fund remains unclaimed for years. To overcome this big problem, the government has taken a very important step. The Department of Financial Services under the Finance Ministry has launched a new portal, which has been named ‘Common Landing Portal for Unclaimed Financial Assets’. Now through this special website (www.unclaimedassetsportal.in) any citizen of the country can easily find out the money of his or her family, which has not been claimed by anyone for years.

Every information will be available on one platform

In earlier times, if you wanted to know about any old bank account, fixed deposit or insurance policy, you had to visit the websites or offices of different institutions. Now this new portal has made the entire process very simple. This is such a unified platform, where you can search information from banking, insurance, stock market dividends to mutual funds together. The entire financial ecosystem has been integrated at one place, so that the common man does not face any technical or administrative problems in finding his rightful money.

Public sector banks joined together

This important portal has been prepared with the special cooperation of Public Sector Bank Alliance (PSBA). Let us tell you that this alliance is a joint and central organization of 12 big government banks of the country. The Department of Financial Services, in collaboration with these public sector banks, has ensured that the common man gets a transparent and completely citizen-centric system.

Recovering lost money becomes easier

On the occasion of the launch of this important portal, Financial Services Department Secretary M. Nagaraju also emphasized on its far-reaching benefits. He says that the main objective of this portal is to increase the convenience of common citizens manifold. When search facilities scattered at different places are brought on a single platform, it saves both time and energy of the people. This effort of the government is a strong effort to reconnect all those people with their rightful financial rights, who due to some reason were separated from their own savings. Now any common citizen can check without any hassle whether any of his unclaimed funds are present in the system or not.
