It has become a habit for people to eat things made from flour, sugary-oily foods and anything at any time every day. Oily food and not being physically active make us victims of bad cholesterol.

Here we are going to tell you which are the habits that make us patients of bad cholesterol. TV9 talked to Dr. Amar Singhal (Director, Internal Medicine, Shri Balaji Action Medical Institute Delhi) on this topic. Know what experts say…

What did the expert say on high cholesterol

Doctor Amar Singhal says that high cholesterol does not increase in a day, but some of our everyday wrong habits gradually become its cause. Mistakes like excessive consumption of fried, junk food, processed food, sweet drinks and items containing trans fat can increase bad cholesterol in the body.

If observed, people repeat more mistakes. Experts say that not being physically active, sitting at one place for a long time, increasing weight, smoking, excessive consumption of alcohol and not getting enough sleep are also important reasons for this.

These diseases and health problems are also the reasons

In many cases, diabetes, thyroid disease, kidney problems and family (genetic) reasons can also be responsible for increased cholesterol. There are no obvious symptoms of high cholesterol in the beginning, so it is important to get regular checkups done.

Take care of your diet like this

Cholesterol can be controlled to a great extent by having a balanced diet, at least 30 minutes of physical activity daily, controlling weight and following treatment and medicines as per the doctor’s advice.
