
Today is the 17th day of environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. His protest is on paper leak issues. On this issue, actor Omi Vaidya, who played the memorable role of ‘Chatur Ramalingam’ in ‘3 Idiots’, has supported educator Sonam Wangchuk. Vaidya appealed to the people to pay attention to Wangchuk’s deteriorating health and the issues being raised through his protests.
Describing himself as “the smartest of the 3 idiots”, Vaidya said, “I don’t want Phunsuk Wangdu to die.” He mentioned Aamir Khan’s character in this memorable film. This character was inspired by Sonam Wangchuk.
‘Wangchuk’s important contribution to the country’
Recalling his meeting with Wangchuk, Omi Vaidya described him as a humble and inspirational person. He said the activist has made significant contributions as an engineer, innovator and educator and appealed to people to know more about his work. Expressing concern over Wangchuk’s health, Vaidya said that the activist’s blood sugar level had fallen during his long-running hunger strike, hence people should pay attention to his condition.
The actor also emphasized on the main issues of Wangchuk’s protest. He mentioned education, autonomy of Ladakh and environmental protection. He appealed to people to understand the issues being raised, whether they agree with Wangchuk’s views or not.
Blood pressure and weight reduced
Demands for climate activist Sonam Wangchuk to end her indefinite hunger strike increased as ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) founder Abhijit Dipke gave information about her health. Dipke told on social media
The founder of CJP said that Wangchuk’s weight has reduced by 8.5 kg and his blood pressure is 109/70. Dipke mentioned a short conversation he had with Wangchuk, in which he requested Wangchuk to end his hunger strike. To which Wangchuk calmly replied, don’t ask me to end the fast. Ask the government why they are not talking.
