After the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the statement of opposition and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has also come out in the Lok Sabha. He said that this is the victory of our students. This is the future of India. The education system of which we were proud and the whole world believed that India’s education system is very good, has been under attack for years. It is being taken over, it is being privatized. This was a reaction against that. He also attacked Dharmendra Pradhan and said that Pradhan is a symbol – a symbol of corruption, a symbol of ruining the education system, a symbol of incompetence. He had to go and it was good that he went.
Rahul Gandhi also attacked RSS and said that now the government will have to take concrete steps to change the education system. RSS’s capture of India’s education system is a big issue. If Modi ji is at fault in this, then RSS is equally at fault.
Targeted at PM Modi
Taking aim at PM Modi, he said, ‘I want to thank all the students wholeheartedly and I am ready to provide whatever help they need from my side. The aim of the Congress Party was to support this protest wholeheartedly. We supported it and we are here to protect the students of India and the future of India. This fight is between the past i.e. Narendra Modi and RSS and the future of India and we are confident that the future of India will defeat the past.
Rahul Gandhi said that ‘This is a warning from the students of India and the opposition that you cannot run India the way you have been running it till now. This is not your personal property. This is not your thing. This country belongs to the people of India. This belongs to the Constitution of India, all these institutions are not yours. If you continue on this path, you will see that what has just happened will happen on a tenfold scale. This is the main message’.
Amit Shah also targeted
He also targeted Home Minister Amit Shah and said, ‘We hold Amit Shah directly responsible for the violence against our students. It was he who gave permission to open fire on our students. It was he who approved the use of lethal weapons, including pellet guns, against our students. This is a fundamental issue for us. We will not tolerate that our own forces shoot at the future of India. This will be a big issue in Parliament. Obviously, as I said, the students are also demanding an apology from the Prime Minister.
‘Government will have to listen to the people of India’
Rahul Gandhi further said that ‘this protest has taken place and the deep reason behind it is that India’s systems – job creation system, education system, institutional structure and media system, have been ruined. They are not working properly now. It also has consequences. We are currently facing a serious economic crisis. These systems become even more important in times of severe economic crisis. The government should understand that what has happened here is just a part of a much bigger problem. The government needs to start listening to the people of India. This is a warning to them.
