July 25, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Bargad Plant at Home: Some plants are considered very auspicious in Hindu religion. Banyan plant is included in these auspicious plants. It is believed that Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh reside in the banyan tree. Banyan tree is worshiped during fasts like Vat Savitri and Vat Purnima. The special importance of worshiping the banyan tree during these fasts has been mentioned in the Hindu scriptures. During these fasts, married women pray for unfailing good fortune by worshiping the banyan tree.

The banyan plant is very huge and its roots are considered very strong. Many times it happens that a banyan plant suddenly starts growing on the wall of the house, in the courtyard or in a pot. In such a situation, this question often comes in people’s mind whether it is auspicious or inauspicious to grow this plant in the house. Let us know what is the sign of banyan growing in the house?

It is not inauspicious to grow a banyan plant in the house.

The banyan plant is very sacred. According to religious beliefs, growing a banyan plant in the house is not considered inauspicious. In this, the Trinity resides in the plant, hence its growing on its own is considered a sign of God’s grace and arrival of positive energy in the house. The roots of banyan are very deep and they spread far.

Over time, banyan roots can damage the walls, foundation or floor of the house. For this reason, from both religious and practical point of view, it is forbidden to plant and keep it inside the house. It is better to plant the Baragag plant in an open place rather than at home. If a banyan plant grows in the house, then carefully remove it and plant it in the temple premises or open ground.

Symbol of good luck and prosperity

One’s wish is written on a banyan leaf and it is floated in flowing water. It is believed that by doing this one’s wish is fulfilled. In the scriptures, this plant has been described as a symbol of happiness, good fortune and prosperity. If a banyan plant grows in the house, do not consider it inauspicious at all, rather plant it at a suitable place.
