The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against three alleged Naxalites in a case related to the supply of explosives and logistics support to activists of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) in Andhra Pradesh. He said that two of the accused, Naka David Raj alias Davidu and Vijay Biswas, are overground workers (OGWs) of the banned organisation.
According to an NIA statement, the Naxalites were caught red-handed and arrested by the local police when they were going to hand over the consignment of explosives to the third accused, Sodi Kesa. The names of all three are included in the charge sheet filed in the NIA special court in Visakhapatnam.
According to the statement, investigation revealed that David and Vijay were involved in the procurement, transportation and supply of explosive materials to underground Maoists for attacks on security forces. The NIA investigation found that the accused had links with members of the CPI (Maoist) and were actively providing assistance to them with the aim of promoting the nefarious agenda of the organisation.
The NIA, which took over the case from the local police in September 2024, found that the entire conspiracy was aimed at helping the CPI (Maoist) strengthen its operational capabilities in the region, so as to disrupt the security and stability of the country. The statement said that investigation is ongoing to identify other links of the banned organization.
