Congress General Secretary and MP KC Venugopal has said that there is no point in CPI(M) insulting Rahul Gandhi for his political failures and decline. Venugopal said, “CPI(M)’s attacks on Rahul Gandhi are like a person breaking a mirror if he doesn’t like his reflection. Outside Kerala, CPI(M) is surviving in Parliament today mostly because of the support of Congress and its alliance partners. In such circumstances, his criticism of Rahul Gandhi is nothing less than strange.
Venugopal Said that in states like Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu, those who won elections by seeking votes in the name of Rahul Gandhi are now calling him “ED agent”. In a democracy, the leader of the largest opposition party naturally plays the role of Leader of the Opposition. CPI(M) leaders, who are also struggling to save their political importance, have now started raising questions on Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.

Venugopal said that this reveals deep political insecurity in the party, which has become an opposition force even in Kerala. He further said that CPI(M)’s talk is because of its disappointing election performance in Kerala. Instead of making an objective assessment of the reasons for its defeat, the party has chosen to attack Rahul Gandhi. This kind of approach will lead CPI(M) to even bigger political failures in the future.
Venugopal said that INDIA Alliance was formed under the leadership and initiative of Congress Party to save India’s democracy and Constitution from the dictatorial thinking of BJP. This alliance was formed with the clear objective of defeating BJP. Former General Secretary of CPI(M) Sitaram Yechury completely understood the purpose behind this alliance.
He further said that Congress had cooperated with TVK in Tamil Nadu after the elections not for the desire of power, but to help prevent the imposition of President’s rule and form a secular government. The interesting thing is that CPI(M) later adopted the same political position in the state too, but now it is conveniently ignoring it.

He said that while the Congress continues to work in the larger national interest, the CPI(M) is increasingly being guided by a small and group political ideology. Rahul Gandhi has consistently fought a strong fight against the misuse of investigation agencies by the BJP to target political opponents. He himself has also been a victim of such acts. In contrast, today the CPI(M) lacks a true national political position and focuses primarily on regional agendas in the states where it operates.
Venugopal said that because of this small thinking the communist movement has reduced in states like West Bengal. Instead of making baseless allegations against Rahul Gandhi, CPI(M) leaders should think seriously about the reasons for the continuous political decline of their party.
