Vizianagaram News: In Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh, the police has arrested a thief who used to work as a delivery boy during the day and clean houses at night. During police interrogation, he has made many surprising revelations, on the basis of which further investigation is going on. The police have also arrested a gold trader associated with this gang, where the accused used to sell stolen goods.
According to the police, Puvvala Manikant, a resident of Rompilly village in Ramabhadrapuram mandal of Vizianagaram district, works as a delivery boy in a private online delivery company. As part of his work, he used to visit various villages in Bobbili, Badangi and Sitanagaram mandals and deliver goods to customers. During this time, his eyes fell on some houses in the villages. He used to keep a close watch on the time of villagers going home in the morning for agricultural work, employment guarantee scheme or job.
Manikant was stealing since 2023
He kept accurate records of which houses were closed and who was not at home at what time. Manikant was stealing from locked houses since 2023. Recently, the police spotted Manikant wandering suspiciously at the Mettavalasa bus stop. They detained him and interrogated him in their own way, which led to the revelation of the theft conspiracy. Manikant admitted that he was stealing gold jewelery from locked houses and selling it to Baleshwar Rao, a gold trader from Salur.
Jewelery worth 20 tola seized
Investigation revealed that Manikant was spending the money earned from these thefts on living a luxury life, parties and bad habits. Police arrested both the accused and seized about 20 tola gold jewelery from them. In view of this incident, the district police has issued many important instructions to the people. He has told people to be alert if any new person is seen roaming suspiciously in villages or settlements.
He suggested informing trusted people about proper security measures when leaving the house vacant or installing CCTV cameras. He has also said that if you notice any change in the behavior of the delivery boy coming for online orders or if there is any doubt, immediately inform the police.
