The initiative of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and the continuous dialogue in the House have yielded positive results. The impasse in Parliament on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2026 has ended and all major political parties have agreed to start discussion on this important bill from Tuesday. During the proceedings of the House, Speaker Om Birla had urged all the parties that this issue is related to crores of students, youth of the country and the transparency of competitive examinations. In such a situation, it is appropriate to have a comprehensive and meaningful discussion on this.

As a result, both the ruling party and the opposition came to a consensus and decided to hold a detailed discussion on the bill on Tuesday. This has also strengthened the spirit of consensus and dialogue in the House.
This bill has been brought with the aim of effectively curbing paper leaks, cheating, organized examination mafia and other unfair means in public examinations. During the discussion on Tuesday, various parties can also put forward their suggestions and amendments on the provisions of the bill. After discussion, the government will respond to these suggestions and after this the bill will be presented to the House for approval.
Proceedings of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha postponed
Lok Sabha was adjourned for today amid opposition sloganeering. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday adjourned the session for the day amid sloganeering by opposition members. Will start again on Tuesday at 11.00 am. Along with this, the proceedings of Rajya Sabha also started at 5.30 pm, but after the uproar by the opposition, it was adjourned till 11 am on Tuesday.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday accused the Congress and its allies of obstructing the debate on the Public Examination Amendment Bill, which proposes stringent punishment for paper leaks. He said that the public is watching the actions of Congress. It seems that Congress does not want discussion. He said, “This is a serious legal matter. It is about our students. Why are they not allowing the House to function.” He said that the opposition should worry about the future of the children.
Nishikant Dubey’s attack on Congress
Earlier on Monday, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey attacked the opposition regarding the Public Examination Amendment Bill. He accused the opposition of having no moral standing on the paper leak issue and claimed that they were running away from discussion.
Dubey said, “What kind of discussion will they have? He himself is the ‘king’ of paper leaks… Congress has no moral standing to speak on these matters, that is why they are running away from them. They know that if such issues are raised during the discussion, they will be exposed.”
