Prashant Kishore, founder of Jan Suraj and candidate from Bankipur, held an important press conference on Sunday. He spoke on many issues including banning Jeevika Didis from campaigning for BJP in Bankipur by-election. PK has also given a big statement on the students’ movement. PK said that we are not going to stop just by sending delegation to the Election Commission or holding press conferences. BJP has deployed 1000 workers, leaders and actors, that is their right, in democracy every party has the right to do whatever is right in a democratic manner.
The public will see how much power BJP has to exert in Bankipur to defeat one Prashant Kishor. How many leaders and resources have to be deployed? In a way, we at Jan Suraj consider this as our victory. Those BJP leaders, MLAs, MPs and ministers were not going to their areas. At least these people are reaching out to the people of Bankipur even before the election results come out. This is a big democratic victory. This victory is not of Jan Suraj but of those voters of Bankipur who have decided that they are not bonded laborers of any ideology of any political party. If they have an option, they will examine it and if it seems right, they will also vote.
‘The battle will be fought’
PK further said that till now it is fine, you call 500 leaders in politics, we do not have any problem. The battle will be fought. The problem is that you are not using the administration just to create pressure. We know that whoever is in power troubles others to some extent. The people of Jan Suraj who are staying in hotels, have also come at their own expense, are being raided every day in those hotels. The people of BJP and the Election Commission should tell that the people of BJP are staying here in the sky. After all, why are those hotels not being raided? Why are they not being asked who is paying your bill? So many people from BJP have come, who is paying for their accommodation? Please tell me this also.
Prashant Kishore said that DM will not be able to do this just by deleting the tweet, he will have to pass an order that no woman, employee or semi-government employee related to livelihood can be a part of the elections. He said that in the incident that happened yesterday, the DM of Patna did the same heinous act by tweeting officially which happened in the November 2025 assembly elections. In the name of voter awareness, reach out to women again through Jeevika Didis, the half-paid employees of the government, and tell them that if you do not vote for NDA and BJP, then government facilities like your food grains and pension will all be stopped.
‘This is sheer dishonesty’
Yesterday, the whole day Jeevika Didis were holding meetings and going from door to door telling that if you do not vote for BJP then all the facilities provided by the government will be stopped. And this has happened when the DM of Patna has tweeted that Jeevika Didis have been appointed here and have given them the responsibility to go door to door, sit among women and ask for votes for BJP in the name of awareness. Our friends from the Election Commission have met twice. Today we will meet the Observer again. Our colleagues told that the officials said that they were completely surprised because only government employees can participate in the elections.
It is sheer dishonesty for semi-government livelihood didis to participate in elections and to make them an official part. With democracy, with the people of Bihar and with the people of Bankipur. Today we will go to the Election Commission and are giving them a chance of last 24 hours. If by tomorrow they do not remove Jeevika Didis from the election process, then we all will sit on a dharna in front of the Election Commission. We are not going to tolerate that you do the same thing again which you did in November 2025. The DM will not be able to do this just by deleting the tweet, he will have to pass an order that no woman, employee or semi-government employee related to livelihood can be a part of the elections.
This is the beginning, it’s not going to stop
Prashant Kishor said on the student movement that if CJP people come to Bihar, they will welcome them, Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation shows that opposition parties may be weak in this country but not the opposition, this is the beginning, it is not going to stop.
Prashant Kishore said that every person who wants to challenge the undemocratic behavior of the government and its functioning, we are with him. I have said it earlier also, Sonam Wangchuk is my friend. When he was caught for agitation in Ladakh and kept in Jodhpur jail. He also supported CJP by going to his platform. This is not a matter of party, people have seen that when the public stands up, even the biggest power will have to bow down. If people from CJP come here and work on issues related to students, then we welcome them.
He said that we are seeing in Delhi, that protest was not of any one Sonam Wangchuk, thousands of people who came to the protest did not come directly carrying the flag of CJP. All the youth were troubled by the paper leaks happening every day, unemployment and the collapsed education system. He did not come after any one leader, he came for himself and his better future. Within 3 days, all the arrogance of BJP, which called itself the biggest party in the world, was lost. Dharmendra Pradhan ji had to go. Look ahead, this is the beginning, it is not going to stop.
On the occasion of the press conference, State President Manoj Bharti, Assembly in-charge Rambali Chandravanshi, former MLA Kishore Kumar, Subhash Kushwaha, Kumar Saurav, Kumar Shantanu, Rakesh Patel, Masiuddin, Sanjay Thakur and others were present.
