July 27, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Feeling restless all the time and not being able to concentrate on any work… can also be anxiety. Stress is a normal thing in today’s life. People’s mental health has deteriorated due to busy life, work pressure and responsibilities. It has come to light in many reports that some people do not even know that they are stressed. However, people also mistake anxiety for stress. Most of the people do not know why this happens. What are its symptoms and most importantly how can anxiety be removed?

It has also been revealed in many researches that anxiety also occurs as the level of diabetes increases. In this article, we are going to tell you through a doctor how different is anxiety from daily stress?

Difference between anxiety and stress. Anxiety Vs Stress

Dr. Megha Aggarwal, Consultant Psychiatrist says that stress and anxiety may seem similar, but both are not the same thing. See, stress usually occurs due to some specific reason. Like office work, exam, financial tension or any problem at home. When that reason is eliminated, the stress also gradually starts reducing.

But this is not necessary in anxiety. In this, fear or anxiety persists in the mind, although sometimes there is no clear reason. You may often feel that something bad is going to happen, whereas in reality everything is fine. This is the biggest difference between stress and anxiety.

Affects not only the mind but also the body

Experts say that anxiety does not only affect your mind, its effect can also be seen on the body. Such as rapid heartbeat, rapid breathing, excessive sweating, trembling hands or feeling of stiffness in the body. Many people also start having stomach related problems.

Such as upset stomach, nausea, discomfort in the stomach or change in toilet habits. This happens because our brain and stomach are interconnected. When the mind is disturbed, its effect is visible on the stomach also.

Don’t take anxiety lightly

The doctor said that if this anxiety and nervousness persists for several weeks or months and it starts affecting your work, relationships or everyday life, then it should not be taken lightly. In such a situation, it is important to talk to a mental health expert.

I always say that it is absolutely normal to be stressed sometimes. But if the worry persists even after the problem is over, or it starts becoming a hindrance in your daily life, then it may be that it is not just stress but anxiety. In such a situation, it is very important to seek timely help.
