There is a lot of turmoil in the politics of Maharashtra at present. Discussion is in full swing regarding the merger of both the factions of NCP. Meanwhile, the discussion regarding Rajya Sabha MP Partha Pawar’s meeting with CM Devendra Fadnavis has gained momentum. It is being said that there is resentment in the party. However, Parth Pawar has made his position clear regarding the meeting with the Chief Minister. He told that ‘Jayant Patil and we did not meet at Varsha Bungalow. Jayant Patil had gone to Varsha Bungalow to discuss about his assembly constituency, this is true and he has also told this to the media.
He further said, ‘I and Prafulla Bhai (Praful Patel) had gone separately. Before the start of the Parliament session, there has been a tradition that if there is any question of the state government of the state, then the MPs listen to it together. We had asked for the CM’s time, Prafulla Bhai had also asked for time and we went. If this meeting was political, we would have told Sunetra Vahini (Sunetra Pawar), but this was not a political meeting, hence no topic came up to tell. After that, there was a meeting of the core committee of our party, in which we also discussed about SIR and the birthday program of Ajit Dada. The respect I had for Ajit Dada, I have respect for Sunetra Vahini and NCP is moving ahead under her leadership.
What did Sunil Tatkare say?
On this issue, NCP State President Sunil Tatkare said, ‘I am not aware of Parth meeting the Chief Minister. There is no reason to feel awkward meeting them. Eknath Shinde has held the post of Chief Minister, I do not think he will say that any particular department should not be given to another party. Our demand is that we should get the finance portfolio. Under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Sunetratai, we will also meet the Chief Minister in this regard. I don’t think there will be any political equation in the Jayant Patil-Eknath Shinde meeting.
‘There is no discussion about merger in the party’
He further said, ‘There is no information about Sharad Pawar Group joining the government. Supriyatai (Supriya Sule) has said that we will discuss and consider the Sule Bill in UPA, he is a responsible leader. When Ajit Dada was alive, the merger was discussed and it reached the final stage. Had Dada been alive, today we would have seen the merger as per Dada’s plan. Right now there is no discussion about merger in our party. He also said about Eknath Shinde that ‘Shinde Saheb always goes to Delhi. He has some important departments, he goes about his work. It is not right to draw political meaning from his every visit.
