
Three Indian sailors who went missing after the US attack on Palau-flagged tanker MT Setebello off the coast of Oman have died. Union Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal shared a post on social media X. He said, “Deeply regretted to learn about the tragic incident on board the Palau-flagged ship MT Setebelo. Sadly, three Indian sailors who were initially reported missing have died. I have directed the authorities to immediately bring back the rescued crew members and also bring back the bodies of the deceased as soon as possible so that their last rites can be performed.”
The Union Minister has described these deaths as a big loss. “A huge loss for our maritime family,” he said. He said that the Central Government stands with the affected families and will provide them all necessary help. He said, “In this difficult time, the Modi government stands strongly with the affected families and is fully committed to helping their families.”
It is deeply unfortunate to learn of the tragic incident aboard the Palau-flagged MT Settebello. Sadly, three Indian seafarers initially reported missing are now confirmed dead after bodies have been located and identified.

India summoned America’s senior diplomat
India on Wednesday strongly condemned the attack on a commercial ship in which three Indian crew members went missing. The government also summoned America’s most senior diplomat in New Delhi to register its protest over this incident. The Foreign Ministry said in a statement, “We condemn today’s attack on the commercial ship ‘Settebello’ off the coast of Oman.” The ministry said that out of the 24 Indian crew members present on the ship, “21 Indians have been rescued so far and 3 Indians are reported missing.” Now these missing sailors have died.
