Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet US President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday. A statement issued by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that this meeting is taking place in conjunction with Netanyahu’s visit for the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham died suddenly last week. He was one of Israel’s staunchest supporters in Washington.
The statement said, “On the call of President Trump, the Prime Minister benjamin netanyahu Will go to Washington on Monday for an official visit. As part of this visit, the Prime Minister will meet President Trump at the White House on Tuesday and attend the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham.”
Netanyahu’s seventh US visit
The visit will be Netanyahu’s seventh visit to the White House during Trump’s second term, more than any other world leader and a reflection of the administration’s continued commitment to Israel.
This visit will give a new direction to the ongoing war between America and Iran and this meeting can be a turning point in the war between Iran and America and will decide the future of Iran as well as the whole of Arabia.
The US-Israel war with Iran has escalated again after the ceasefire under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the US and Iran earlier this month was broken. Israel had opposed the MoU and its ongoing military operations in Lebanon were repeatedly threatening to derail diplomatic efforts.
War intensifies between Iran and America
The Trump administration is overseeing talks between Lebanon and Israel aimed at ending the fighting, which do not include Hezbollah.
Both Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a plan to hand over Israeli-occupied areas to the Lebanese military, although the ground reality has remained largely unchanged since March. In a meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun earlier this week, Trump did not give a timeline for Israel’s withdrawal.
Meanwhile, the US Central Command said that its forces completed continuous attacks on Iran. Iran has retaliated daily against US assets in the region, including last week in an attack on a base in Jordan that killed three US soldiers.
Trump and Netanyahu meeting turning point for war
Whether the US and Iran are at a critical juncture in an uncertain war that will reach the five-month mark on Tuesday. Donald Trump has threatened more attacks and said that negotiations are continuing. What will further increase this uncertainty is that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with Trump in Washington next week.
Israel started the war with America on 28 February. After this meeting, Iran fears that it may get worse, because Israel may come into the fight. On the other hand, Israel’s non-involvement so far “could send a signal to the Iranians that we are trying to de-escalate the fighting.”
