First understand the caste equation of Bankipur from the graphics.

Lost in by-elections and then sidelined
PK Shahi- Prashant Kishore Shahi i.e. PK Shahi once had a say in the politics of Bihar. He was considered close to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. PK Shahi was the Education Minister in the Bihar government from 2010 to 2015, but defeat in a by-election eclipsed PK Shahi’s political career.
In fact, after the death of the then Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Umashankar Singh in 2013, by-election was held on Maharajganj seat. Lalu Yadav made Umashankar Singh the candidate from here. The then Education Minister PK Shahi was fielded by JDU in this election.
Prabhunath Singh defeated Shahi on this seat. After this, he could not survive much in royal politics. Completely sidelined since 2015. Now focusing on his advocacy in Patna.
Kishori Sinha- The political career of Kishori Sinha, wife of former Vaishali MP Satendra Narayan Sinha, was also ruined due to the by-election. Actually, by-elections were held on Vaishali Lok Sabha seat of Bihar in the year 1994. Anand Mohan fielded his wife in this by-election.
At that time there was Lalu Yadav’s government in Bihar. Anand Mohan linked this election to Lalu Yadav, after which Lalu made Kishori Sinha the candidate to defeat Lovely Anand. However, Kishori Sinha did not win in this election. After this his political career came to a halt.
Ram Naresh Pandey- Ram Naresh Pandey is considered a big communist leader in Bihar. In 2015, by-election was announced for Harlakhi assembly seat. This seat had become vacant due to the death of the MLA of Upendra Kushwaha’s party RLSP. Ram Naresh was expected to win from here, but he lost the election due to the ambush inside. After this Ram Naresh could not win any election.
Insurance Bharti- Bima Bharti, who was a minister in the Nitish government, left JDU before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, she contested from Purnia seat on RJD ticket, but her deposit was confiscated. After this, RJD gave him the symbol in the by-election of Rupauli assembly seat, but he did not get success in this election also. After this Bima Bharti became sidelined.
This is why it is important for PK to win Bankipur
Prashant Kishor is not even a part of the opposition yet. In front of him is NDA on one side and RJD on the other side. PK is trying to push RJD to third position through Bankipur seat. If they fail in this, it will have political implications.
Not only this, before the elections big leaders like KC Sinha have left PK. If PK loses the elections, there may be chaos in the party.
Why is the path to Bankipur not easy for PK?
The path to Bankipur is not easy for Prashant Kishor, who is contesting the elections on the symbol of Jansuraj Party. BJP’s Nitin Nabin had won this seat in the 2025 elections. Nitin Nabin is now the national president of BJP. Nitin Nabin defeated the RJD candidate in the 2025 elections.
Jansuraj’s candidate got around 7700 votes on this seat. BJP has fielded an ordinary worker against PK here. Neeraj Bharti is contesting against PK from here. The party is trying to get an ordinary worker to defeat PK.
