Opposition leader in West Bengal Ritabrata Banerjee on Saturday strongly criticized the recent statements of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee. He alleged contradictions in Abhishek’s statements. He said that before saying such things he should resign from the party leadership. Ritabrata Banerjee raised questions on the lack of consistency in the stand of the TMC leader and also cited TMC’s performance in the recent elections.
He also demanded Abhishek Banerjee to resign from party posts. Ritabrata said, “He said this today. What did he say yesterday? He said that the ‘looters’ ran away fearing the ED and CBI, and the very next day he is asking the same looters to come back. This is a complete contradiction. He should have resigned on May 4, taking responsibility for the election results.”
‘Abhishek should first concentrate on 2029 elections’
Ritabrata Banerjee currently has the support of 60 MLAs. In such a situation, he warned Abhishek and said, “2031 is still far away, before that 2029 will come. Then he will have to contest the Lok Sabha elections and the public has seen the reality. Before talking about winning, one should contest the elections and try to save his security deposit.”
On the issue of demolition raised by Abhishek Banerjee, Ritabrata Banerjee said that if there is any legal complaint, it should be resolved through the courts. He said, “If any authority is breaking something of yours by saying that it is illegal, when in reality it is not, then you should go to the court and seek justice.”
Offered to come back to the party
Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee had challenged the party’s rebel MPs and MLAs, saying that if they return to TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, he will resign within an hour.
Talking about the issue of leaving the party, Abhishek Banerjee said that if the rebel leaders have any problem with him and this is the reason for their rebellion, then they should come back to Mamata Banerjee. He said that if he is his target, he should come back to the party and he will resign within an hour.
