Social activist Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike continues for the 19th consecutive day. Wangchuk refused to end his indefinite strike despite appeals from many big leaders and supporters of political parties. Meanwhile, the process of big personalities meeting him and inquire about his well being continues. Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is also reaching Jantar Mantar today on Thursday.
Activist Wangchuk is on hunger strike at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, and the scope of political support for his movement is increasing. Kejriwal is going to meet today. Congress MP from Amravati, Maharashtra, Balwant Baswant Wankhede is also going to meet.
Tight security before Kejriwal’s departure
Before Kejriwal goes there, security has been increased in and around Jantar Mantar. Police say that as a precautionary measure, additional police forces and paramilitary forces have been deployed at the protest site and surrounding areas.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Chief Minister Kejriwal has extended his support to the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) against alleged irregularities in NEET-UG and other examinations. Wangchuk later joined the movement on June 28 and has been on an indefinite hunger strike since then. The protesters have also announced to march to Parliament on July 20.
Extending his support to Wangchuk’s movement, Trinamool Congress leader and former MP Saket Gokhale wrote a letter to Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In his letter, he said that if anything happens to social worker Wangchuk, who has been on hunger strike for the last 18 days, the central government will be responsible for it.
Congress MP Prashant Padole also arrived to meet
Before going to Jantar Mantar, Kejriwal told that AAP supports the protests of the Cockroach Janata Party and its demand for the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He told that he will meet Wangchuk on Thursday evening.
Earlier, Congress MP from Bhandara Gondia Lok Sabha constituency of Maharashtra, Prashant Padole reached Jantar Mantar on Wednesday and met Wangchuk and extended his support to his movement. When the system fails to protect the hard work of the youth, then struggle becomes the loudest voice.
Today at Jantar Mantar, perhaps one of the most unique, most peaceful and youngest movements in the history of India, participated in support of CJP.
