Passengers passing through London’s Gatwick Airport on Sunday had to face a lot of trouble. The reason for this problem was nothing else but water. According to the report, there was a power failure in the water treatment plant, due to which the water supply at the entire airport was affected. Even the toilet at the airport had water.
According to airport officials, due to lack of water supply, toilets and restaurants and bars in both the terminals had to be closed. Officials said they are working with the local water company to restore service as quickly as possible.
Problems increased due to power failure
According to the water supply company ‘SES Water’, there was a power failure at its ‘Bow Beach Water Treatment Works’. Due to which there was a huge drop in water pressure and water supply stopped in some areas of Kent and Sussex counties as well as at the airport. The company said that efforts are being made to start the service as soon as possible.
What did the airport administration say
At the same time, the airport administration has shared a post on social media and apologized to the passengers for this inconvenience. In the post, the airport administration said, ‘We are still facing problems due to the problem of water supply. At present there is no water supply in both the terminals. Our staff are available to assist passengers and provide assistance when needed.
Further, the administration said that some restaurant partners have opened their spaces to provide additional seating space. We apologize for this inconvenience and are working closely with @SESWater to restore supply as soon as possible. We will update you as soon as we get more information. Along with this, the administration also said that bottled water is being provided to the passengers and employees at the airport.
A local water supply issue is continuing to cause disruption. There is currently no water supply in either terminal.

Passengers expressed displeasure
However, passengers rejected this claim and said that they had not received any prior information about water being shut off. Along with this it was also told that someone was seen distributing water bottles at the airport. Paul, a passenger, said, ‘It is not good for people who have to go to the toilet. I am going to fly soon, so there is no problem, but it will cause trouble for the passengers flying in a few hours.
‘People have no place to sit’
Former MP Michael Dugar also expressed his displeasure about this on social media. He said that due to closure of bars and restaurants, people do not have space to sit, due to which passengers are forced to sit on the floor. He appealed to the airport administration to open the closed restaurants and bars to accommodate the passengers.
