Shivling Jalabhishek Method: In Sanatan Dharma, every day is dedicated to some deity or the other. Monday is considered to be the day of Lord Shiva. Special worship of Lord Shiva is done on this day. Method of Jalabhishek of Shivalinga
Take bath in the morning on Monday and offer water to Sun God. After this, mix curd, milk, honey, ghee and Ganga water and perform Jalabhishek of Shivalinga. Then offer Belpatra, Mauli, Akshat, fruits, betel leaves and betel nut on Shivalinga. After this, light a ghee lamp and chant special mantras. Then offer fruits, sweets etc. to Lord Shiva. Finally perform Aarti. After this distribute Prasad among the people. Donate food and money to poor people.
Do not offer these things to Shivling even by mistake
Offering Tulsi to Shivalinga is prohibited because Lord Shiva had killed Tulsi’s husband Jalandhar. Ketaki flower is not offered on Shivalinga. It is believed that the Ketaki flower had given false testimony in favor of Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva had cursed the Ketaki flower not to be offered to himself. Apart from this, vermillion, turmeric, coconut water and broken rice should never be offered on Shivling.
