Ram Temple Offering Theft: After Champat Rai-Anil Mishra, will Govind Dev Giri also resign? Decision on 22 July

July 13, 2026 by Uma Shankar

After the case of theft of offerings from Ram Temple, a period of change is underway in Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. After the resignation of General Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Dr. Anil Mishra, now the discussion about the resignation of Trust Treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri has intensified. However, when TV 9 tried to get information from Govind Dev Giri about his resignation, Gobind Dev Giri did not respond. After the irregularities in the theft of Ram temple offerings, questions were continuously being raised on Treasurer Govind Devagiri.

Being the treasurer, why was no action taken against Govind Devagiri? Why did Govind Devagiri not resign? Why is Govind Devagiri not interrogating SIT? However, Govind Devagiri had said that he has no knowledge as to how the calculation went wrong. I live in Mumbai so I am not able to come early. But we have some people who used to come every week and give me their accounts.

‘Govind Devagiri is very busy’

It is also clear from his statement that Govind Devagiri is busy and will not be able to give time to the Ram Temple Trust. The post of Treasurer is the most important after President and General Secretary. Especially for financial accounting, this may lead to resignation. A decision regarding Govind Dev’s future may be taken in the trust meeting to be held on 22nd July.

According to sources, Govind Dev Giri has expressed his desire to step down from his post in the Trust. However, the final decision will be taken in the proposed meeting of the Trust on July 22. Govind Dev Giri has expressed his desire to step down from the post citing personal reasons and lack of time. It is being told that he is busy in other religious and social responsibilities, due to which he is not able to spend enough time in Ayodhya. He has expressed this desire in view of the increasing responsibilities of the financial work of the Trust. In this matter, Trust member Dinendra Das said that if anyone has resigned then it will be considered.

Why is the post of Treasurer important for the Trust?

The role of the treasurer is considered very important in the financial operations of the Ram Mandir Trust. The signature of the President, General Secretary or Treasurer is required to operate the bank accounts of the Trust. Recently, with the aim of increasing financial transparency, the Trust has also constituted a three-member committee for the operation of bank accounts, but the post of Treasurer still remains important. Govind Dev Giri is short of time, so he wants to leave this post.

Resignation is not accepted merely by expressing desire.

Ram Mandir Trust member Dinendra Das, while reacting to the discussions about Govind Dev Giri’s resignation, said that mere expression of desire to resign does not make the resignation accepted. Dinendra Das said, ‘This topic will be discussed in the trust meeting. If someone has committed a mistake and has resigned then it will be considered. But if there is no mistake then there is no reason to accept the resignation, every person may have his own personal wish.

The temple arrangements were also reviewed

On Saturday, Dinendra Das reached Ram temple and inspected the facilities for worship and devotees. He told that all the religious rituals in the temple are going on smoothly as per the scheduled time and there is a huge crowd of devotees. According to him, the arrangements of the temple are normal and the devotees are not facing any kind of problem.

Continuous changes taking place after offering theft incident

After the case of alleged theft of offerings in Ram temple came to light, many major administrative decisions have been taken within the trust. Recently, General Secretary Champat Rai resigned from the post. Trustee Dr. Anil Mishra also decided to step down from the responsibility. Krishna Mohan was made the acting general secretary. The process of appointing a CEO in the trust was started and a three-member committee was formed to operate the bank accounts. This was done to make the financial system more transparent.

All eyes on the meeting of July 22

Now the discussion of Govind Dev Giri’s resignation has once again intensified speculations about possible changes in the trust. According to sources, the future of Govind Dev Giri may be discussed in the proposed trust meeting on July 22. Further changes in the administrative structure of the Trust are also likely to be considered in this meeting. However, no official confirmation has yet been given by the Trust about the resignation or acceptance of Govind Dev Giri.
