On June 11, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav was holding a press conference at the BJP office in Jaipur when suddenly the power went out. There was power failure thrice, due to which the minister had to talk to journalists in the dark for about 10 minutes. On Thursday, when Union Railways and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav was talking to the media as part of BJP’s nationwide campaign on the occasion of completion of 12 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government at the Centre, the state BJP office was in darkness due to power failure. There was a lot of controversy over this incident. Now three days later, on June 13, the electricity department has taken action on this matter. Assistant Engineer Vipin Verma posted at 400 KV sub-station of Hirapura was suspended.
Electrician Babu Singh was also suspended. Superintending Engineer R.P. A charge sheet was issued to Gupta and his reply was sought. An official said the disciplinary action was taken after an investigation report found lapses in the maintenance of power infrastructure that had led to the disruption.

Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar showed strictness on this incident of power failure. He sought a detailed report from the officials of Rajasthan State Electricity Transmission Corporation (RVPNL) and Jaipur Discom. A 3-member committee has been formed to investigate the matter. In this committee, there are Additional Chief Engineer (Chairman) of Jaipur, Superintending Engineer (SE) of Jaipur Rural, Assistant Engineer (Conservation Engineering).
The committee will find out the exact reasons for power tripping and failure. A solution will have to be found to ensure that such incidents do not happen again. He said that uninterrupted and reliable power supply is the biggest priority for the state government. He said that any kind of negligence in the electricity system will not be tolerated. He assured that necessary steps will be taken to avoid such incidents in future.
