‘Millie’, who claims to be the world’s oldest living cat, is in the news these days. Her owner Leslie Greenhough, 71, says that Millie is 31 years old. If compared according to humans, then it is considered equal to about 146 years. However, this claim has not been officially confirmed yet.
Leslie, who lives in Stockport, Greater Manchester, England, says that Millie was born in the year 1995. At that time this cat was with his wife Paula, who adopted him at the age of just three months. Even today, he has an old photograph of 1995, in which little Mili is seen eating food from a eating utensil.
What is the lifestyle of this cat?
Leslie believes that good care and special diet have a big role in Millie’s longevity. He says that for the last ten years he has been giving him only Buxton mineral water to drink. Apart from this, his diet includes things like salmon, prawns, chicken and tuna. Love and affection is also an important part of her daily routine. Leslie says that she gets a lot of pampering while sitting on the sofa every day and perhaps this is the reason why she is healthy even today.
He told that a few years ago water pipeline work was going on in his area. During that time, bottled Buxton water was delivered to their homes. He started drinking the same water himself and started giving it to Mili also. Later, when the tap water came again, it was not clean. After this he decided that in future too he would use only mineral water. Mili’s birthday was also celebrated in a special way in March this year. A special meal of chicken was prepared for him. To provide him comfort in summer, two fans are always running towards him in the house. Leslie also puts ice cubes in his water so that he feels less hot. Now she often likes to sleep on the floor because it is cooler there.
Leslie’s wife Paula died in 2020 due to Covid-19. He says that his wife’s death had an impact not only on him but also on Mili. For some time he had almost given up eating and drinking. To bring him back to normal, he fed him his favorite foods like prawns and chicken. Gradually she started eating normal cat food again. Leslie says that with increasing age, Mili’s nature has also changed a lot. Now she has started living more peacefully and peacefully than before. She wakes up late, plays with them for a while and then goes to rest in a sunny place or behind the sofa. Sometimes she also roams in the garden, but spends most of her time indoors.

She believes that a safe environment inside the house, good food, clean water and abundant love are the secrets of Mili’s long life. Now his biggest dream is to get Miley’s name recorded in the Guinness World Records. However, the biggest difficulty is that sufficient official documents are not available to prove his correct age. At present, he only has that old picture of 1995, seeing which he hopes that one day the world will officially accept Mili’s unique story.
