Mahavatar Narsimha Completes 1 Year: 'Mahavatar Narasimha', released on 25 July 2025, has completed one year today. At the time of its release, hardly anyone would have thought that this animated film would write a new chapter in the history of Indian cinema. But the film had made many big records in its name from the box office to the world of animation.
'Mahavatar Narasimha' was a 3D animated mythological action drama film, directed by Ashwin Kumar. This film was based on the Narasimha incarnation of Lord Vishnu and the story of devotees Prahlad and Hiranyakashipu, which was released in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam languages.
The budget of this film of Ashwin Kumar was around Rs 40 crore. Based on the mythological story, this animated film earned more than Rs 326 crore worldwide on the basis of spectacular visuals and a powerful story. With this it became India's highest grossing animated film.
The making of the film was also no less than a miracle. According to reports, it took up to 14 days to prepare just one frame of the film. The makers worked so much on the details of the animation that many people compared it to Hollywood animated films.
The purpose of this film, which was made in about four and a half years, was to prove that India can also make world-class animation films. 'Mahavatar Narasimha' proved this thinking correct and also set a new benchmark for the Indian animation industry.
The film received tremendous love from the audience. It received an 8.5 rating on IMDb, while its story, visuals and background score were also highly praised. After making a splash in the theatre, this film is now available on Netflix.
'Mahavatar Narasimha' was not only a blockbuster film, but it also gave a great start to the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe. The makers are preparing to bring many films based on the remaining incarnations of Lord Vishnu in the coming years. In such a situation, even after a year, the success of this film remains an example for the Indian animation industry.
