A young man was brutally beaten to death by a mob in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. The matter is of Sankijahan village. It is being told that on June 9, the mob caught a young man thinking he was a thief and then started beating him, due to which he died. The deceased youth has been identified as 30-year-old Sandeep Nair, who was a resident of Kerala. He did not know how to speak Bengali or Hindi and he lost his way and reached Sankijahan village.
According to the information, Sandeep had come to Kultali area of West Bengal about two weeks ago with his colleague Hiralal Das. Hiralal works as a migrant laborer in Kerala and returned to his village in June. During this time, Sandeep also came to West Bengal with him. Sandeep knew only a few words of Hindi.
I reached the village by losing my way
It is being told that Sandeep had gone out alone to go to the market. During this time he lost his way and reached Sankijahan village. He did not know Hindi and Bengali language well. Local people became suspicious of his actions and stopped him and asked him to reveal his identity. Sandeep did not know Hindi and Bengali languages properly, due to which he could not tell anything to the villagers. The matter worsened due to difficulty in communication. After this the villagers tied him with a rope and beat him severely.
Rumor of misbehavior with pregnant woman
Meanwhile, some villagers claimed that the situation worsened after rumors of ill-treatment of a pregnant woman spread. However, the police have not yet confirmed these allegations. Seriously injured Sandeep was found lying on the roadside, after which the police took him to Jaynagar-Kultali Rural Hospital. However, by then it was too late. Doctors declared him dead.
Police engaged in investigation
Initially the cause of death was not clear, but based on the video that went viral on social media, the police started investigation from the angle of murder. The report identified the deceased as Sandeep Nair, although the police are still completing the official identification process.
5 arrested, 2 minors sent to juvenile home
The police have registered a case of murder under section 103 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) in this case. So far 5 people have been arrested. Of these, 3 have been sent to judicial custody while 2 have been sent on police remand. Apart from this, two minor accused involved in the incident have been sent to juvenile home.
