Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ashutosh Tiwari submitted his nomination papers for Datia by-election on Monday in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, former Home Minister Narottam Mishra and state BJP President Hemant Khandelwal. Despite not getting the party ticket from this seat, former state Home Minister Narottam Mishra attended the nomination filing program and became emotional during Ashutosh Tiwari’s nomination rally.
Narottam Mishra Said that the party has given me everything. I have been an MLA for 30 years and a minister for 15 years, what else do you want? I will definitely make my Ashutosh Tiwari win. I will go to each house, each village and will bow my head at each door. However, during his speech from the stage, Narottam Mishra addressed BJP candidate from Datia Ashutosh Tiwari as Ashutosh Yadav. After this, Ashutosh Tiwari immediately corrected the mistake.
Ashutosh Tiwari filed nomination
Narottam Mishra said that he will work to convince the party workers to join the nomination of the BJP candidate and fulfill any responsibility given by the party.
After filing his papers, Ashutosh Tiwari said that he has full confidence in the party leadership. He will try to live up to his candidature. When asked about Congress state president Jitu Patwari’s prediction of his party’s landslide victory, Tiwari replied, “The Congress leader has his own claims.”
There was an uproar when Narottam Mishra did not get the ticket.
He also criticized senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh, saying, “Madhya Pradesh has suffered Digvijay Singh as a loss, there is no question of accepting him (Congress). Narottam Mishra is our guardian and a senior leader of the party. We will win the elections and all the voters of Datia are with Vikas.”
Let us tell you that after the announcement of Ashutosh Tiwari as BJP candidate for Datia Assembly by-election on Friday evening, supporters of Narottam Mishra had blocked National Highway-44 and many district leaders had resigned due to not being made the candidate from Datia. Tiwari has replaced Mishra, who lost the seat in the 2023 assembly elections. Meanwhile, Congress party has made Kunwar Ghanshyam Singh the candidate for this seat.
