The suspect in the deadly attack on ‘Berlin Pride’ was shot dead in a shootout with police on the outskirts of the city on Sunday. One person was killed and 29 people were injured in the attack by the accused. About 24 hours after the Berlin attack, the police found Abdul Ballout, a German citizen of Lebanese origin. Earlier, Home Minister Alexander Dobritt said, whatever we are seeing here indicates that we are dealing with an Islamic terrorist attack. Dobrint put the total number of injured at 29.

He said the suspect had previously been under the radar of authorities for his involvement in several crimes, although he did not provide details of those crimes. According to the police, a white van entered Tiergarten Park at around 10 pm. This park is near the route through which the Pride March had passed some time ago. The van hit several people and later crashed into a tree. Police said a woman died. Berlin’s fire service said eight people were seriously injured.
According to the police, more than 2,200 policemen were deployed to protect the Pride Parade and other events of the LGBTQ+ community in Berlin since Saturday morning. Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner expressed deep sorrow over the incident and said, this is an attack on our free and liberal society.
