July 18, 2026 by Uma Shankar

The number of people applying for the post of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ayodhya-based Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has set a new record. Till the last date of application on 18th July at 4 pm, more than 5 thousand applications have been received for this prestigious post. According to sources, the applicants include a large number of retired IAS, IPS and IRS officers as well as senior officers of the Indian Army. Along with this, many professionals having long experience in various administrative, management and public service sectors have also applied for this post.

It is being told that after the completion of the application process, the Trust will now examine all the applications on the basis of prescribed standards. After this, further process of screening, shortlisting and selection of eligible candidates will be started and the final selection will be done as per the procedure decided by the Trust. In fact, in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust meeting on July 6, a three-member search committee was formed to select the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Ram Temple. This committee includes Justice Pramod Kohli (retd), Lieutenant General (retd) Vishnukant Chaturvedi and Suresh Haware, former chairman of Sri Sai Baba Sansthan Trust.

What will be the responsibilities of the new CEO?

The appointment is being made in the wake of alleged donation theft at the Ram temple and is part of efforts by the trust to strengthen financial monitoring and improve its administrative functioning. Whoever becomes the new CEO of the trust, his job will be to tighten financial monitoring, strengthen institutional accountability and streamline the day-to-day management of the temple after investigating the alleged theft of donations.

What are the eligibility criteria?

As per the eligibility criteria, applications were also invited from serving government officers who are in the last two years of their tenure or retired officers or eligible private sector professionals. According to reports, a person familiar with the process said that the role of the three-member expert panel is limited to examining the applications and preparing a shortlist, while the final decision on appointment will be taken by the Trust.

Sources said the committee will evaluate the applications and recommend suitable names, then the final appointment will be made by the trust. The source also said that the committee is unlikely to recommend more than three candidates.
