Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has achieved major success in quantum technology. With this technology the communication network of the Indian Army will become completely secure. This is called quantum key distribution (QKD). DRDO has successfully completed its military field trials. This system is completely made of indigenous technology, which can protect the country’s communications well from new cyber attacks coming in the quantum era. This technology is a very modern and secure way of sending messages through fiber cables.
Future proofing India’s strategic communication networks with quantum technology, DRDO has successfully completed military field trails of a scalable and practically secure, fiber based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) system.

DRDO created it in collaboration with Taqbit Labs
Taking advantage of the testing done in its lab and past experience, the DRDO team has developed this advanced system in collaboration with Bengaluru-based company Taqbit Labs. Its purpose is to provide strong security to the important networks of the country. The field trial of indigenous quantum technology for sending secure messages through fiber cable is a great achievement of self-reliant India in the field of security.
Army’s communication network will be completely safe from hacking
With this, the communication network of the Indian Army will now be completely safe from hacking. With this technology, it will become difficult to hack or steal military messages and secret information. The enemy country or any hacker will not be able to break into the country’s military network.
DRDO and IIT Delhi had successfully tested quantum key distribution system and free-space quantum secure communication. This technology has been developed indigenously, which will protect the confidential data of banking, medical and defense sectors from hackers.
