Social activist Sonam Wangchuk late Friday night vehemently rejected allegations that she had struck a deal with the government to end her 26-day hunger strike. He asked critics whether he still needed to prove his sincerity after fasting for almost a month for justice against the NEET-UG paper leak and other irregularities in the examination.
In a video message shared on social media, Sonam Wangchuk expressed disappointment over claims of striking a deal with the government. He said that his decision to end the fast should not be seen from the perspective of political speculation.

While sharing the video on X, Wangchuk wrote, after 26 days of hunger strike, do I still need to prove my honesty? He appealed to the people to watch the entire 22-minute video on his YouTube channel before drawing any conclusions and help spread his message.
Without naming anyone, Wangchuk targeted those who were alleging that he had made a deal with the central government. He said such allegations ignore the personal cost of his protests.
I don’t need to take character certificate: Wangchuk

Why did Wangchuk end his fast?
Late Thursday night, Wangchuk ended his fast after Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh assured the government on several demands raised during the protest. According to activists, the government assured that it is positively considering not taking legal action against peaceful protesters, will facilitate discussion on exam reforms in Parliament, and is also positively considering compensation to the families of students who allegedly committed suicide following the NEET paper leak controversy. Wangchuk is currently recovering in Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.
