July 20, 2026 by Uma Shankar

There is big news for crores of EPF account holders of the country. Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has started the process of giving 8.25% interest for the financial year 2025-26. Interest will be credited to about 34 crore EPF accounts and many account holders will start seeing the updated balance in their PF account by July 15, 2026.

The government has also approved 8.25% interest rate for the financial year 2025-26. In such a situation, if you are also employed and have an EPF account, then now you can easily find out whether interest has been deposited in your account or not.

How to check EPF balance?

1. Check balance from UMANG app

First of all download UMANG app in your mobile. After this login with your UAN. After login, you can also see your PF account balance, deposited amount, claim status and pension account statement of the last three months. If needed, you can also download your passbook in PDF.

2. Instant information from EPFO Passbook Lite

Go to EPFO’s Member Passbook Portal and login with the help of your UAN, password and captcha. After this, enter the OTP received on the mobile number linked to Aadhaar. Then go to ‘View’ option and select Passbook Lite. Here you will see recent deposits, withdrawals and updated PF balance.

3. Balance will also be available through SMS

If your UAN is active, then send SMS EPFOHO UAN to 7738299899 from your registered mobile number. Within no time you will get information about your PF balance, recent deposits and KYC through SMS. This facility is available in 10 Indian languages.

4. Use missed call service also

EPFO also provides missed call service to its members. On giving a missed call from the registered mobile number, your account balance and other important information is sent through SMS.

What if interest is not visible yet?

If 8.25% interest is not visible in your PF account yet, then there is no need to panic. According to the rules of EPF Scheme 1952, interest is calculated on the basis of every month’s balance. Therefore, even if the interest is credited to your account after a few days, you will still get the full interest. This means that you will not suffer any loss due to delay in depositing interest.
