In view of the monsoon session of Parliament starting from Monday i.e. tomorrow (July 20), Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory for the people of the capital. Due to the ongoing proceedings of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha during the Parliament session, security arrangements in New Delhi will be tighter than before. Due to this, VIP and VVIP movement will also increase, due to which the traffic pressure in Parliament House and surrounding areas is likely to be much higher than on normal days.
The traffic police said in the advisory, in such a situation, people have been appealed to plan their journey in advance and avoid these routes as far as possible so that they can avoid getting stuck in unnecessary traffic jams.
Traffic police issued advisory
According to Delhi Traffic Police, during the Parliament session, Rafi Marg, Motilal Nehru Marg, Maulana Azad Road, K. Traffic pressure will be highest on Kamaraj Marg, Raisina Road, Rajendra Prasad Road, Parliament Street, Ashoka Road, Talkatora Road, Pandit Pant Marg and Rakabganj Gurudwara Road. Traffic on these roads may be stopped or diverted from time to time due to safety reasons. In such a situation, it has been advised to use these routes only when absolutely necessary.
Traffic will be affected on these routes also
Apart from this, traffic will also be affected at many important intersections and roundabouts. These include Vijay Chowk, Boat Club, Rail Bhawan Roundabout, Sunehri Masjid Roundabout, Patel Chowk Roundabout, Buta Singh Roundabout, Prime Chowk Roundabout, GRG Roundabout and Jalebi Chowk Roundabout. In these areas, the speed of vehicles may remain slow due to security checks, movement of VIP convoys and traffic diversion. Office goers and those who use these routes daily have been advised to leave with extra time.
Keeping in mind the convenience of the people, the traffic police has also suggested many alternative routes. If possible, people can use Janpath, Man Singh Road, Akbar Road, Teen Murti Marg, Shanti Path, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Panchsheel Marg, Vinay Marg, Outer Circle of Connaught Place, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, RML Roundabout, Mother Teresa Crescent Road, 11 Murti and Sardar Patel Marg. Traffic pressure on these routes is likely to be relatively less and this will make it easier for people to reach their destination.

Delhi Traffic Police has said that security will be the top priority during the monsoon session. Therefore, according to the situation, changes can be made in the traffic system at any time. If necessary, traffic on some routes can be temporarily stopped or diverted. In such a situation, drivers are requested to follow the instructions of the policemen and avoid driving hastily or in the wrong direction.
Leave the house after checking the traffic situation
The police have also advised that people who work in New Delhi, Central Delhi or the areas around Parliament House, should check the traffic situation before leaving home. If possible, use public transport or Delhi Metro, which will reduce the number of vehicles on the road and the traffic system will remain smooth.

Heavy police force deployed
To maintain security and smooth traffic system during the monsoon session of Parliament, a large number of Delhi Traffic Police personnel will be deployed at many intersections and sensitive places. Therefore, people have been appealed to cooperate and follow the prescribed traffic diversion, so that everyone can have a safe and smooth travel experience.
