
In Manipur, security forces have once again carried out a major action against extremism. K of Churachandpur district on Tuesday. During the search operation conducted in the forests of Thenzang village, a huge cache of arms, explosives and military equipment were recovered. The recovered weapons included one AK-47 rifle (with magazine), one pistol, two single barrel guns, two country-made pistols, one air gun, one RPG ammunition, one hand grenade and five IEDs. Apart from this, one PEK explosive, three pumps, four Motorola handheld sets, two chargers, four bulletproof jackets and 44 empty cartridges have also been recovered.
In fact, the security forces surrounded the entire area and conducted a search operation and took all the weapons and explosives into their possession. After the recovery, security agencies have started investigating the case. Officials say that the campaign against militants will continue in the future to maintain peace and security in the state. This operation was carried out by the security forces during a joint operation conducted by Manipur Police and 19 Garhwal Rifles.
Police had seized 8 hand grenades on July 12.
Earlier on July 12, in an operation, security forces had arrested an active member of PREPAK, Ningombam Amuthoi Meitei, a resident of Chingnungkok Manning Leikai in Imphal East district. He was arrested from Yorbang Panthoibi Leikai under Lamlai Police Station and 8 hand grenades were seized from him.
49.5 kg opium was recovered
At the same time, on July 12, Manipur Police had also recovered 49 packets of suspected opium weighing about 49.5 kg from an abandoned Hyundai Creta near Hengbang Baptist Church on National Highway-2 in Senapati district in an operation. According to the police, the vehicle was left abandoned by the accused after they sped away from the Tumuyon Khullen checkpoint in Senapati district.
