Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Wednesday stayed the non-bailable warrants (NBWs) issued against former JNU student union president and CPI(M) leader Aishi Ghosh. Judicial Magistrate First Class Vijayashree Rathore of Patiala House Court issued this order. Let us tell you that this non-bailable warrant was issued on December 12, 2024 and April 11, 2026 in a case of the year 2021.
The warrants were issued after he did not participate in the court proceedings in a case related to the protests and demonstrations in Banga Bhawan, Delhi. A case was registered against Aishi Ghosh under sections 188, 34 and 447 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). On July 28, CPI(M) had alleged that Delhi Police had forcefully entered their headquarters to arrest Aishi Ghosh in this case.
Uproar in Rajya Sabha over search in CPI office
There was a huge uproar in the Rajya Sabha over the search in the CPI office. Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge strongly cornered the government on this issue. He said that the government should respond if police enter the office of any national political party. Opposition MPs called it an attempt to put pressure on democratic institutions and protested loudly in the House.
JP Nadda rejected the opposition’s allegations
On this, House leader and Union Minister JP Nadda rejected the opposition’s allegations and said that Delhi Police has only followed the court’s order. This is completely a matter of law and order and the police was fulfilling its legal responsibilities.
