A big international operation was conducted by Punjab-Haryana Police. In this, two notorious gangsters have been arrested in the African country Angola. In an action taken by Punjab Police and Haryana Police in collaboration with central agencies, Varinder alias Joban Sadok and Manjot were caught in Angola. Varinder was wanted in four sensational murder cases in Punjab. Manjot was wanted in many criminal cases in Haryana. Both gangsters Gopi Ghanshampuriya and Doni are said to be active henchmen of Bal gang.
The Punjab government had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh on the arrest of Varinder alias Joban Sadok. After the operation on foreign soil, the process of bringing both of them to India has started. The police is tightening its grip on the gangsters of Punjab and Haryana even abroad. Punjab Police had issued a Red Corner Notice against both the gangsters and was in constant touch with international agencies.
Criminals will not be saved by fleeing abroad
This high-profile operation shows the growing grip of Punjab and Haryana Police on international criminal networks. This proves that fleeing abroad no longer guarantees the safety of regional gangsters.
The arrests in Angola and the recent FBI operations show a big thing. Both these incidents are proof of increasing international cooperation to dismantle organized criminal networks linked to India. Now gangs are spreading their work in many countries. That is why sharing intelligence, joint investigation and extradition efforts have become very important. These three things have now become important weapons to bring fugitives within the ambit of law.
For Indian agencies, the successful arrest of Varinder alias Joban Saidoke and Manjot is a major success in capturing fugitives outside the country’s borders. This also strengthens the message that criminals cannot escape the law by simply fleeing abroad. The extradition process has begun, and it is expected that both the accused will be brought back to India so that they can be tried for the crimes they committed in Punjab and Haryana.
