
A major success has been achieved in the fight against narco-terrorism and cross-border terrorism. SIA: Special NIA court has ordered framing of charges in the important narco-terror case of Kashmir. This has cleared the way for the trial to begin against the members of the Pakistan-backed narco-terror syndicate. This syndicate used to fund terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir through the earnings from drug smuggling. This case was registered in October 2022 on the basis of reliable intelligence information. The information was about a highly organized cross-border conspiracy hatched by Pakistan/PoJK-based handlers of the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The Kashmir State Investigation Agency (SIA) investigation revealed that the syndicate smuggled narcotics across the Line of Control (LoC) into Jammu and Kashmir and used the illegal proceeds to fund terrorism, maintain terrorist infrastructure and strengthen the terror ecosystem in the Union Territory. During investigation, SIA Kashmir uncovered a larger conspiracy and detected the involvement of 16 accused, including four terrorist handlers from Pakistan/PoJK.
10 accused have been arrested
The accused in this case include Rubina Nazir Malik, Ishfaq Ahmed Mir, Mudasir Ahmed Poswal, Safir Ahmed Mughal, Mohammad Rashid Thakkar, Mohammad Riyaz Lohar, Javed Iqbal Thakkar alias Raja Thakkar, Abdul Rashid Mir, Abdul Rashid Bhat and Basharat Ali Poswal. All these accused have been arrested, while Sagir Ahmed Poswal is absconding.
6 charge sheets filed against 16 accused
SIA Kashmir has filed 6 chargesheets against all the 16 accused in this case and the charges included offenses related to waging war against the Government of India, conspiracy to wage war, terrorist activities, raising funds for terrorist organizations, membership of and supporting terrorist organizations, criminal conspiracy, destruction of evidence and cheating. In this case, action is also being taken to seize and confiscate properties related to terrorist activities under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
