3 big announcements of MP government amid farmers movement… from moong purchase to changes made in e-token system

July 29, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Amidst the farmers’ movement in Madhya Pradesh, the Madhya Pradesh government has made an important announcement regarding the purchase of moong. After the meeting with farmer representatives chaired by Agriculture Minister Andal Kansana, the government has taken three main decisions with the aim of providing more relief to the farmers and simplifying the procurement process.

The government has decided to increase the limit of moong procurement from 25% to 60%, which is much higher than the limit of 25% generally fixed in the schemes of the Government of India. Under this initiative, 3 quintals of moong per acre will be purchased from every eligible farmer, so that more and more farmers can get the benefit of Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Slot booking deadline changed

The second major decision taken in the meeting was to extend the period of slot booking. The deadline for slot booking, which was earlier fixed for August 10, has now been extended to August 20. This will give farmers additional time for registration and purchase.

Big decision on e-token system

The government has assured that the technical problems related to the e-token system will be resolved. Understanding the problems faced by farmers due to the implementation of the new system, the government has decided to make the e-token process more easy and convenient in future, so that farmers do not face any problem during the procurement process.

It will be easier for farmers to sell their produce: Andal Kansana

Agriculture Minister Andal Kansana said that with these decisions it will be easier for farmers to sell their produce and the procurement process will become more effective and transparent. He said that based on the recommendations of the committee, until improvements are made, food distribution through the e-token system is being suspended with immediate effect.

There was no consensus among farmers organization

Meanwhile, after the government’s announcement, farmer organizations have not been able to reach any consensus among themselves. Half of the organizations agree with the decision, while the other half disagree. Farmers have just reached Ban Ganga intersection to protest. The police have stopped the farmers using dumper trucks.
